The Capital News was founded by residents of Ward 7 and Ward 8 who were tired of seeing their neighborhoods covered only when something went wrong.

We publish accountability journalism, community voices, neighborhood announcements, and the everyday stories that shape life east of the Anacostia River — the schools, the small businesses, the block captains, the elders, the artists.
